Envy stems from a lack of knowledge

I'm convinced that envy stems from a lack of knowledge.

Knowledge about you, knowledge about life...just lack of adequate knowledge.

The more you grow in knowledge, the less you have to be envious of.

What you'll then have, will be an admiration of things and traits; not an envy of the people who possess them.

"This bag looks great."

"I like how charismatic he is."

"She is a really good business woman. I need to learn these business skills."

Finish.

When you come to terms with your person and who you are, you'll learn to appreciate who others are, celebrate them for their prowess, and leave it at that.

I get to admire some aspects of some people's lives and character, but I, surely, wouldn't want to be them.

It's not cliché talk...like, yo, for real, I can't be you.

I mean, by virtue of the kind of person I am, I might be exhausted by your profession or lifestyle. I may not be that passionate about what you do as you are, so why would I want to be you? I just like what you've created, your tenacity, courage, composure, and talent. But that's just it...I'm good.

Can you imagine me being the MC to introduce corrupt political leaders? That's a tough job!

By the time I'm done with the introduction, the hall would be heated up, inspite of the high-powered ACs in the room.

I know myself. I can only be happy for you, admire your oratory, composure, grooming, and more; but by virtue of growth in knowledge, I know I may not be comfortable being/doing you.

When I was in the University, I really didn't look around to see what people were doing to follow suit. I did my own thing. Looked weird? Probably. I knew one thing - I didn't need to prove anything to anybody. Sometimes, I did the opposite of what was done, didn't attend some events, though harmless, determined my dress sense, and more. I understood, though a teenager, that I needed to learn how to make my own choices and walk my own path. What I had going for me was the knowledge that I didn't have to do anything that I didn't want to do, even if it wouldn't hurt to do it.

If you stay in tune with yourself, grow in knowledge about life, about yourself, about people, you'll find little or almost nothing to be envious of. You'll be genuinely happy for people, genuinely appreciate things that don't belong to you, and be truly excited at developments that don't involve you.

People are not your competition - Your competition is with your goals and targets.

Confession: I've never really liked competitions, just as I don't enjoy baseless arguments. Mind you, I was in a lot of competitions growing up and was really good. But deep down, I don't like to compete with people; I just don't like how it feels. However, what I enjoy is achieving goals and targets - I derive satisfaction in that. I don't see people as my competition; I just look at the goal I want to achieve, and give it my best shot.

Nobody is that important to disfigure yourself for.

Grow in knowledge. Embrace yourself.

Meet yourself. Lean into yourself.

Then you'll look for envy, and wouldn't find it. You'll realise that it only existed because your mind used to be small.
